CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A 14-year-old has been charged for his involvement in the shooting that took place off Riding Trail Road just west of E. WT Harris Boulevard on Thursday.
Around 10:05 a.m., officers with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department were called to the area where they located a 14-year-old male victim with a gunshot wound.
Medic transported the victim to Carolinas Medical Center for treatment.
Police say the victim was shot by another 14-year-old male inside a home. The shooter agreed to speak with detectives, accompanied by his mother.
He was later charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, possession of a handgun by minor and possession of a stolen firearm.
The 14-year-old suspect’s detention placement is in the works.

Officers with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department were called to Riding Trail Road just west of E. WT Harris Boulevard where a person had been shot.
Medic transported the victim to the hospital for treatment.
Neighbors say a young person, possibly a teen, was shot in a drive-by shooting.
Police are on scene investigating the events leading up the shooting.
No additional information has been released on the victim or the suspect(s).
The extent of the person’s injuries is unknown at this time.
