Wilson’s World: Kicking off the 10th Annual 49ers4Life Blood Drive at UNC Charlotte
UNC Charlotte's 49ers4Life Blood Drive runs from 11am until 5pm today, Tuesday, January 29th and Wednesday, January 30th
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Every year the students and faculty at UNC Charlotte hold their 49ers4Life Blood Drive in Halton Arena on the campus of UNC Charlotte. And each year Wilson likes to stop by to help them kick off the event. Again this year he was there as the students and faculty at UNC Charlotte respond to the call from the American Red Cross to help get their blood supply re-stocked. And as in previous years, the need for blood has reached a critical level.
It has been 10 years that the Red Cross has partnered up with UNC Charlotte for their 49ers for Life Blood Drive. Maya Franklin with the American Red Cross joined Wilson to discuss the factors that have caused a shortage of blood donations and how the American Red Cross is there to help in ways other than blood donations.
Of course Wilson had to hit up one of the students, Corey, to play his famous ‘Name that Band’ contest. And of course, it didn’t turn out well for the contestant. He also had an opportunity to talk with Dot, a member of the faculty at UNC Charlotte, who has donated over 20 gallons of blood to the Red Cross.
The 49ers4Life Blood Drive continues in the Halton Arena inside the Barnhardt Student Activity Center on the campus at UNC Charlotte until 5pm today and continues from 11am until 5pm on Wednesday. For more information on the 49ers4Life Blood Drive click HERE.
