DENVER, NC – A young father is out of jail on bond accused of abusing his three-month old baby.
“I’ve never seen him abuse the baby, he loves that baby.” said a next door neighbor in Denver, N.C.
24-year-old David Simmons Junior is charged with one county of felony child abuse with physical injury.
The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office is not releasing many details about what happened behind the doors of Simmon’s home off Unity Church Road in Denver.
According to police, Simmons and the baby’s mother brought the baby to Novant Health Huntersville Medical Center last Wednesday.
Hospital staff says when the baby arrived, it had a broken femur bone. That’s when hospital staff contacted police.
Deputies arrested Simmons after they looked into the report from the hospital.
Simmons was booked at the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center. He was released on a five thousand dollar secured bond.
