ALBEMARLE, NC — Tuesday night, people gathered for a community prayer vigil in Albemarle. Parents and students came together to pray and sing. Police say this is an isolated incident, but parents don’t see it that way.
Families say the shooting is a community issue. Pastors prayed for students, teachers and administration, not only at Albemarle High School, but across the district. Families prayed for peace for the families involved. They also lifted up the students in prayer who witnessed or were involved in the shooting.
“This could have very well been my child or someone else’s, so we have to come together at a time like this so we can prevent this from happening again,” said Albemarle parent Diana Crowder.
Things got really emotional towards the end of the service when pastors lay hands on Albemarle students. Families asked God to comfort the city, the school and the families of suspect and victim. They also prayed for light to shine on the darkness of today.
