Charlotte Man Charged With Cashing Over $3,000 Worth Of Forged Checks From Statesville Business

STATESVILLE, N.C. — A Charlotte man has been charged with cashing forged checks worth more than $3,000, drawn from a Statesville business’ account, in the Triad area of  North Carolina.

The Iredell County Sheriff’s Office says it received a report of multiple forged business checks in the name of One 11 Automotive Renovations, in Mooresville, being cashed at banks in Winston-Salem, Greensboro, and Walkertown, North Carolina, from June 28th through July 1st, 2019.

Iredell County Detective C. Scannella began investigating by interviewing witnesses and obtaining bank records.  During the course of the investigation, 32-year-old Vernard Anthony Gregory, of Charlotte, was identified as a suspect. utteri

Detective Scannella obtained arrest warrants on Gregory for four counts of Felony Identity Theft, and four counts of Felony Uttering a Forged Instrument.

Members of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department arrested Gregory on Wednesday, August 28th, 2019, and transported him to the Mecklenburg County Detention Center, where he was given a $20,000 secured bond.
