CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Broadway musical, “Evita” is playing in Charlotte through March 9. The iconic production tells the story of Argentina’s Eva Perón and has played for nearly forty years.
Actor Josh Young plays “Che”, who narrarates the musical.
The play follows the story of Eva Perón as she rises from the working class to a rise to power.
The production in Charlotte is based on the 2006 production. The woman that played in the 2006 musical explains that Peron paved the way for women to rise to success.
Many Pitikin, of the hit show “Homeland”, originially play “Che” who symbolized Che Guevara.
Young says he intentionally hasn’t watched the version with Madonna because he wants to make the character he plays his own. He also says the current production is unlike any other Broadway version of “Evita”.
