CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Students taking the SAT two years from now will be the first to experience the revamped test. College Board’s VP is explaining what the changes mean to students, parents and teachers.

Jim Montoya says it’ll better prepare students this time around, but remain a challenging exam.

He also says that the test will be more relevant and implement words that students will actually use beyond their preparation for the big test.

The writing portion will also be optional. The test is based on a 1600 score.
