CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Zach Chatham, known by many as Zach N Cheese, proposed to his girlfriend at Yellowstone National Park using the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile.
Inspired by the proposal, Oscar Mayer officials say the Wienermobile is now available for fans to use for their own special events in a new national campaign, and all they have to do is submit a request form here in advance to use the 27-foot hot dog on wheels for free.
Chatham says he decided to use the Wienermobile for his proposal saying, “The vehicle is an American icon and symbolizes longevity for our future together.”
Chatham says his great grandfather also drove the Wienermobile and he applied to drive it saying “it is more difficult than getting accepted into Harvard,” with one out of 4,000 applicants being chosen.
Chatham says he knew he would ask his girlfriend, Hannah Fogus, to become Mrs. Chatham as soon as he met her through a mutual friend in the summer of 2019, and the two have been together for almost 15 months.
When Chatham proposed Fogus says “it completely caught me off guard and it was amazing way for us to tie our love story with his job,” and she was in awe at the amount of effort Chatham took to make her feel special.
Chatham says he loves the idea of lending out the Wienermobile to others for important events, because he knows how special the moment can truly be with it present.
The couple says they love to go out to eat, go on walks, go to the gym, and watch T.V. together in their free time.
When describing her favorite thing about her new fiancé, Fogus says “It’s hard to choose just one thing, but if I had to choose one thing, my favorite thing would be how he finds a new and fun way to add excitement to everything we do. His energy level is always at an amazing point, and he puts the most effort of anyone I know into every small detail to make long lasting memories for the two of us.
Chatham says they plan to move to Boston in June because Fogus just accepted a job under a healthcare PR company called W2O.
Chatman’s proposal made headlines across the United States, and Chatham says “I didn’t expect the attention that we’ve received. However, it has really added to our moment and how special it truly was for the two of us.”
Chatham says he always knew he wanted to make his proposal special, and after being hired to be a hotdogger for Oscar Mayer, he knew this would be the best way to pop the question
When proposing Chatham says “The advice I would give is to make the moment as special as you can and take the effort to make sure it’s perfect, because it will be the biggest moment of your life as a couple. Also, I recommend requesting the Wienermobile.”
