Sunshine & Heat Build, Watching Delta
The sunshine carries into the second half of the workweek, but big changes are on the way for the weekend.
High pressure continues to build into the Carolinas on this Hump Day, prolonging this trend of gorgeous conditions through the second half of the workweek. Expect sunshine and steadily warming temperatures into the 80s for both Wednesday and Thursday for the Piedmont and Foothills. Sunny skies will also prevail in the High Country as our mountain communities top out in the mid-70s through Thursday. While the next couple of days will be reminiscent of summer at times, big changes are coming to the forecast soon in the form of tropical weather.
Hurricane Delta is currently located off of the coast of the Yucatán Peninsula and should make landfall in the region sometime Wednesday afternoon. Delta should re-emerge over the Gulf shortly after and will likely make landfall along the Gulf Coast by Friday. While the exact forecast track is unclear beyond Friday, it’s looking increasingly likely that the Carolinas will see some impacts from the storm. For now, expect cooler temperatures in the 60s and 70s to go along with scattered gusty showers and storms both Saturday and Sunday.
