Β Oh, that horrible feeling that everybody has had at some point: thinking that the office just might be able to get along without you if you don’t go above and beyond. Β And it’s not just putting in some OT on the weekends, some people are giving up way more than that to stay in the boss’ good graces. Β So what about you?
According to a recent survey, nearly 30 percent of American workers say they’ve skipped some of their vacation time to show how dedicated they are to the job. Β Some of that is fear that the bosses might think they can get along without you. Β And about 40 percent say it’s not worth taking the time off because businesses are operating so lean, it just means they’ll have triple the workload when they get back. Β One way or the other, American workers left about $52 billion in time off benefits on the table last year.
That’s the least amount of time we’ve taken off in the past 40 years. Β Our Man on the Edge, Robert Wilder, skips almost all of his vacation time trying to impress the bosses, and look at where that got him. Β So what about you?
