CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Former UNC Football player Kenan Gay was found not guilty in the second degree murder of Robert Kingston. Β 

Prosecutors and Gay’s defense attorney both spoke to the media shortly after the verdict was read in court. Β 

Gay was accused of shoving Kingston out of Ed’s Tavern into the street after Kingston allegedly tried to kiss Gay’s girlfriend. Β Kingston was then hit and killed by a vehicle. Β 

The incident happened in March of 2012. Β  The verdict was decided after three days of deliberations. Β
