Watauga County Man Arrested For Growing Marijuana Inside Business

DEEP GAP, N.C. — Police arrested a Watauga County man for growing marijuana inside a factory. Β 

Investigators say Abrham Shaki, 58, had 93 marijuana plants inside a large factory. Β Police say half of the factory was used as a business and the other half was used to cultivate marijuana. Β 

The plants were cultivated through a sophisticated system using grow lamps, ballasts to regulate power, timers to control the amount of heat the plants were using, fans to circulate the air and air filters to mask the smell of the plants. Β 

Shaki has been charged with trafficking in marijuana by manufacture, trafficking in marijuana by possession, manufacture marijuana, possession with the intent to sell and distribute marijuana, maintaining a dwelling for a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Β
