WASHINGTON, D.C. — Wednesday, President Obama will meet with House and Senate leaders from both parties to discuss the growing crisis in Iraq.

The US is moving more firepower to the region.  Five warships and more than 500 Marines, including some from Camp Lejeune, are on standby in the Persian Gulf.  Dozens of Army troops have moved in around the massive American embassy complex in Baghdad to bolster security.

“Places like Baquba and to the south of Baghdad falling under the sway of the ISIS is a danger to cut off and essentially besiege the city.  That’s worry number one,” said former US Ambassador James Jeffrey

The goal of ISIS is to establish a strict Islamic state that extends from Syria to a large portion of Iraq.
