MONROE, NC – Crews in Monroe will continue their search for an 18-year-old drowning victim Saturday.

The Charlotte Fire Department Dive Team and Monroe Fire and Police expanded the search area on Lake Twitty Thursday for the body of Malique Streater.

It’s a difficult search for crews, because Lake Twitty is about 475 acres and 40 feet deep in some spots.

Streater’s family returned to the spot where he drowned hoping for closure Friday night.

“I really miss my brother right now, and I want to see him, but I can’t,” said Kayla Hough, Malique’s sister.

WCCB is told the teen was fishing with his grandfather when he had a seizure that caused him to fall out of the boat into the water.  His family says he never resurfaced.

The family says Malique had a history of seizures. He had just finished his junior year at Forest Hills High School in Marshville.
