Police: Man Exposes Himself To Woman At South Charlotte Walmart

CHARLOTTE, NC – A flasher strikes again at a popular shopping center in South Charlotte. It’s the second time this month and and the third reported indecent exposure case since September.

According to Charlotte Mecklenburg Police, the latest flash happened on Sunday around 1p.m. inside Walmart at The Arboretum Shopping Center.

A CMPD spokesperson told WCCB the department is not releasing surveillance video at this time.

A Walmart spokesperson tells WCCB that surveillance cameras caught the man who reportedly flashed a women Sunday. Shoppers say they want to know why police aren’t releasing the footage.

“I think they should release it to the media, if not to the media, at least to social media. Put the guy’s face out there. Someone will see him and know him and get him caught,” said Kelly Larocca, a Ballantyne resident.

On Monday, Walmart store managers said police hadn’t come to the store  to pick up the surveillance video.

“That’s insane, because people have to know what this guy looks like. If we don’t know what he looks like, he could be anybody in here,” said Linda Jackson, a Waxhaw resident.

The latest incident happened just a few weeks after police say a man exposed himself to a nine-year-old girl in the same store on October 4th.

On September 24th, police reports show another small girl told her mom a man exposed his private parts to her at the Walmart.

“It is literally disgusting. I hope they catch this creep as soon as possible,” said Jackson.

The Arboretum’s property management company says it hires off-duty officers to patrol the shopping center.  The American Asset Corporation told WCCB there was an officer on-duty Sunday during the time the flasher reportedly struck. Knowing how bold this man is, shoppers worry the crime will escalate.

“Once he decides that he’s done with flashing, he’s going to start trying to grab somebody or grope or something,” said Paige Waymer, a South Charlotte resident.
