
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Dozens of members of the North Carolina Air National Guard are being deployed Wednesday. The men and women are being deployed to support Operation Enduring Freedom.
The aircraft and personnel from the 145th Airlift Wing are based at the Charlotte-Douglas International Airport.
According to the Air National Guard, the 145th Airlift Wing is equipped with the C-130 Hercules. It performs tactical portion of airlift missions. The aircraft is capable of operating from rough, dirt strips and is the prime transport for airdropping troops and equipment into hostile areas.
