A Stunning Holiday Weekend

Lower humidity and plenty of sunshine in wake of Fridays cold front

Hurricane Elsa continues moving westward through the Caribbean. The 1991-2020 average date for the first Atlantic hurricane formation is August 14th – so we are way ahead of schedule. Models indicate Elsa will weaken over the weekend as it interacts with Cuba before reaching the United States. The forecast beyond the Caribbean is still in question – it depends on the strength of the high pressure over the Atlantic. Still a decent amount of uncertainty so something to watch. IF it were to impact the Carolinas it would not be until Wednesday/Thursday of next week.

The cold front moved across the Carolinas a bit quicker than most models anticipated which means only an isolated rain chance through the remainder of your Friday across the Piedmont! As of 2:45 PM, cloud cover continues to decrease from west to east with partly cloudy skies in the High Country. Skies will clear through the evening with overnight lows near 50 in the mountains and low 60s across the Piedmont! This weekend will be gorgeous. We will stay in the 70s across the Mountains both Saturday and Sunday with plenty of sunshine. Sunny skies dominate the Piedmont as well with high temperatures gradually rising each day – mid 80s on Saturday and back to 90 on Sunday.

Tonight: Clouds clearing. Cool. Low: 63. Wind: N 5-10.

Saturday: Sunny skies. High: 85Β°
Saturday PM: Mostly clear skies. Lows in the low to mid 60s.

4th of July: Mostly sunny skies. High: 89Β°.
Sunday PM: Mostly clear skies. Lows in the mid 60s.

Have a great and safe weekend!
