RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) β The Carolina Hurricanes signed free-agent center Jay McClement to a one-year, $1 million deal Wednesday. The 31-year-old McClement had four goals and six assists in 81 games for Toronto last season and led the Maple Leafs in faceoff percentage at 53.6.
HILLSBOROUGH, N.C. (AP) β A prosecutor says ex-North Carolina basketball player Will Graves will take drug and alcohol education classes that could lead to the dismissal of misdemeanor drug charges. Orange County assistant district attorney Jeff Nieman says the 15-hour course is part of a deferred prosecution.
CONWAY, Ark. (AP) β University of Central Arkansas head softball coach David Kuhn has announced that right-handed pitcher Shivaun Landeros will join the Bears after transferring to the school from Appalachian State University. A native of Sparks, Nevada, Landeros brings two years of experience to the Bears.
