CHARLOTTE, NC — It was game night in Uptown Charlotte Friday as baseball fans watched their first ever major league exhibition game at BB&T Ballpark.Β The Charlotte Knights played their major league affiliate, the Chicago White Sox.

It was a sold-out crowd Friday, and we’re still almost a week away from opening day. Β So if Friday is any indication, it’s looking good for the Knights who had 31 sellout crowds in Uptown in 2014.

The Knights had the minor league’s best season attendance in 2014. Β Close to 700,000 fans showed up in total. Β That’s about 10,000 fans per game.Β  As far as sales, the AAA team generated $15 million in it’s first year. Β That’s more than three times the sales at the old ball park in Fort Mill.
