CMPD: Man Found Safe After Going Missing At Charlotte Airport

George Edwards, 79, is being reunited with his family after he went missing at the Charlotte airport on Monday morning.
Police say he is safe, and thank the public for their help in this missing persons case.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte-Mecklenburg detectives are asking for the public’s help in finding missing 79-year-old George Edwards after he disappeared at the Charlotte airport on Monday.
A family member of Edwards contacted detectives to conduct a welfare check after Edwards flew into the Charlotte Douglas Airport on Labor Day and was supposed to be picked up by family members.
When his family arrived at the airport, police say Edwards was no longer there.
Detectives say Edwards was last seen gathering his luggage at the airport.
Edwards is described a Black man, 5 feet 1 inch, 160 pounds with black and grey hair and brown eyes.
He was last seen wearing a gray t-shirt, dark pants, a dark colored golf hat, and carrying a dark colored suitcase.
His family says he has cognitive and medical issues.
Anyone who sees or has information on Edwards’ whereabouts is asked to call 911 immediately or Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
