Less humidity for Tuesday before our next heat wave

Heat building late week

Some welcome relief is on the way tonight, with less humidity and more comfortable air. Overnight temperatures will drop into the mid-60s, which should make for a nice evening with the windows open.

Wednesday is shaping up to be the nicest day of the week. A northerly breeze will help bring in slightly drier air, and we’ll see plenty of sunshine from start to finish. High temperatures will reach the upper 80s,  with lower humidity. It’ll feel much more comfortable than what we’re used to this time of year. Wednesday is definitely the day to take advantage of.

The break doesn’t last long, though. By Thursday, summer starts reminding us who’s in charge. Sunshine sticks around, but temperatures climb back into the lower 90s and the humidity begins to increase.

Friday brings us right back into a classic summer pattern. Highs will reach the low to mid-90s, and the muggy air will be back in full force. During the afternoon and evening, a few isolated thunderstorms may pop up as the heat of the day peaks. Most locations stay dry, but don’t be surprised if a quick downpour develops.

This weekend is looking downright hot, with afternoon temperatures climbing into the mid-90s both Saturday and Sunday. When you combine that heat with increasing humidity, heat index values could soar above 100 degrees, and in some spots may even approach 105 degrees during the hottest part of the afternoon. We’ll be watching for Heat Advisories to go into place.

As for rain chances, a stray pop-up storm is possible Saturday afternoon, while Sunday looks a bit more active with scattered showers and thunderstorms developing as the day heats up. Not everyone will see rain, but any storm that does develop could bring brief heavy downpours and some temporary relief from the heat. Stay tuned!
