CLEVELAND (AP) β Indians outfielder David Murphy will miss four to five weeks with a strained right oblique muscle.
Murphy, who had been bothered by soreness on his right side, was injured on a swing Saturday and left the game. Murphy is hitting .262 with seven home runs and 55 RBIs.
Designated hitter Nick Swisher had his sore right knee examined by a team physician Monday. The Indians said they will seek additional information and opinions before deciding what course of action they will take. Swisher, who was also pulled from Saturday’s game, is hitting .208 with eight homers and 42 RBIs
Murphy and Swisher were placed on the 15-day disabled list on Sunday.
Outfielder Michael Bourn, who hasn’t played since July 5 because of a sore left hamstring, is on a minor league rehab assignment.
