Have Gas Prices Forced You To Change Your Driving Habits?

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Right now, gas prices are the highest they’ve ever been across the United States, and will keep rising. Tuesday, President Joe Biden announced a new ban on all Russia energy imports to the U.S. That includes all oil, natural gas and coal. It’s in response to Russia’s continued deadly attacks in Ukraine. Biden says the ban will be a hit to Russia’s economy, and that prices at the pump will rise here in the U.S.

Biden says, “Today, we remain united. Remain united in our purpose to keep pressure mounting on Putin and his war machine. This is a step that we’re taking to inflict further pain on Putin but there will be costs as well here in the United States. I’m going to do everything I can to minimize Putin’s price hike here at home.”

Biden’s ban comes as the nationwide average for regular reached a new record high of $4.17 a gallon, breaking the previous record set in 2008. Charlotte’s average is $4.03 a gallon.

Drivers are making changes to stay within their budgets. Experts say a nationwide average of $5 a gallon is possible. But analysts are hopeful prices will level off soon.
