‘Just Heal Bro’ Tour Provides Candid Conversations About Black Men And Mental Health
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A frank conversation about mental health in the black community. A group of therapists, NFL veterans, and actors are bringing their Black Male Mental Health tour to Charlotte. The event starts at 7:30 p.m. at the Sarah Belk Gambrell Center at Queens University.
The group travels all across the country holding candid conversations about mental health issues involving black men.
“I think this is a great time for us to start this journey, start this process, and open up the space for black men to start healing,” says Jay Barnett, Family therapist and author.
According to statistics, suicide is the third leading case of death in black adolescents ages 15 to 19, and the second leading cause of death in black children ages 10 to 14.
Organizers say the tour provides vital information about where to get help and offers a space of healing and hope.
If you or someone you know needs help, you can call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-8255.
