Levine Children’s Hospital Annual Gala Raises Over $1.86 Million
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — On Saturday, April 2nd, the 8th Annual Levine Children’s Gala raised more than $1.86 million dollars to benefit patient programs at Levine Children’s Hospital.
Over 500 guests were invited onto the field of Bank of America Stadium in Uptown Charlotte for the 8th annual black tie gala, presented by PNC Bank.
National and local celebrities, athletes, philanthropists, community leaders and representatives of Atrium Health and Levine Children’s Hospital attended the fundraiser.
Event officials say everything about the evening was “big” from the funds raised, to the entertainment, and to the men’s college basketball playoff game screening during the festivities.
Atrium Health President and CEO Gene Woods welcomed the crowd of gala attendees with help from 9-year-old cancer survivor Colin Case.
Woods shouted out some of Levine Children’s biggest supporters including Sandra and Leon Levine, PNC Bank, Carolina Panthers and Charlotte FC team owner David Tepper and his wife, Nicole, and Atrium Health Foundation board member and retired Carolina Panthers great Greg Olsen and his wife, Kara.
“As the founding presenting sponsor of this event, PNC shares Atrium Health’s passion for supporting underserved communities, including some of our region’s most vulnerable patients and their families,” said Weston Andress, PNC regional president for Western Carolinas. “We want every child to have the opportunity to thrive. Access to world-class healthcare is a key part of that growth, and we celebrate the local resource we have in Levine Children’s.”
The fundraiser highlighted personal stories from Levine Children’s providers, patients, and families.
Officials say inspired by these stories of hop and resilience, gala attendees donated generously during the live and silent auction and the bid paddle raise.
“Dj Diesel” aka Shaquille O’Neal then took the stage for a special performance while guests simultaneously had the opportunity to watch the historic NCAA Final Four game featuring two N.C. teams.
