South Carolina Ranks #1 For Violence Against Women

COLUMBIA, S.C. — South Carolina has ranked worst in the nation for deadly violence against women.

The Violence Policy Center released a report on Tuesday that ranks South Carolina first for women murdered by men. According to the report, the state has a rate of over two women killed per 100,000 people in 2013. This rate is reportedly more than twice the national average.

South Carolina was ranked second last year and has been in the report’s top 10 for the last 18 years, according to reports. This is the fourth time the state ranked worst in the nation.

The study is said to use the latest data available from the FBI for crimes involving one male killing one female.
