CHARLOTTE, NC — The two people rescued from an apartment that caught fire early Christmas morning have now been moved to Chapel Hill.
The fire broke out before 8:30 Friday morning in a two story apartment building on Rose Vine Place in southwest Charlotte.
Charlotte Fire officials say they found heavy smoke showing from the apartment when crews arrived. It took firefighters 30 minutes to get the fire under control.
Two people were rescued from the apartment were taken to CMC, one with life threatening injuries, and then both were later moved to the Chapel Hill Burn Center.
Investigators say the fire originated in the kitchen and caused around $25,000 in damages.
The American Red Cross is assisting the families that were put out as a result of the fire.
