Students Suspended After Shooting On JCSU Campus

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — One person is behind bars and two Johnson C. Smith University students are suspended after a shooting took place on campus. The shooting happened around 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday at New Residence Hall. Medic confirms one person was transported to Carolinas Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Campus officials say, the shooter was not a student and was visiting two students in a suite of a residence hall. The students are currently suspended for violating JCSU policies regarding visitation and weapons.

JCSU is a gun-free campus with posted signs. No students were harmed during this event.
