Bond Increased After Man Shot Five People On NYE Near Romare Bearden Park In Uptown Charlotte

The Judge has increased the bond for Daevion Crawford to 1.5 million dollars after Crawfords first court appearance.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Five people were injured in a shooting that happened just before midnight on New Year’s Eve near Romare Bearden Park in Uptown Charlotte, according to CMPD.
Shortly after 11:30pm, officers who were patrolling Romare Bearden Park responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call on S. Church Street. Preliminary information indicates that a suspect fired multiple rounds into a crowd hitting five victims, according to a news release.
All five victims suffered non-life threatening injuries and the suspect was taken into custody a short time later, according to police. Daevion Crawford was named the suspect and arrested, according to CMPD. He has been charged with five felony counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill. He is also charged with one count of going armed to the terror of the people.
Crawford was given a $750,000 bond and has a first appearance in court on January 2nd.
