Charlotte March for Love Counters KKK Parade
CHARLOTTE, NC – Hundreds of people from different backgrounds took part in a March for Love in Uptown Charlotte Saturday.
“This is about love casting out hate in our country and city,” explains Rabbi Judy Schindler.
“The KKK is doing a victory rally here in North Carolina and we’re just trying to show the world that this is not what North Carolina’s about,” says Andrew Fede with Charlotte Against Hate.
Organizers of the March for Love say they want to promote unity, compassion, and hope as a way to counter hate and divisiveness.
“We have so much hatred and dissension in state and in the country right now we can’t think of a better thing to do than to March for Love,” explains Rev. Amantha Barbee.
Marchers made several stops.. leaving flowers at the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial, at the Holocaust monument, and at a memorial for Mahatma Gandhi.
