Police Still Searching For Missing Charlotte Uber Driver, Case Moved To Homicide Squad

UPDATE: CMPD say they are moving the missing person case for a Charlotte Uber driver to the homicide squad so they can have more resources in searching for 44-year-old Marlo Medina-Chevez.

Medina-Chevez was last seen leaving his home on Saturday evening to begin his shift as an Uber driver. Family members say he has been an Uber driver since December.  His family has not seen or heard from him since Saturday.  Police believe he is in ‘grave danger.’

Anyone who has seen Medina-Chevez or his 2008 dark blue Nissan Pathfinder with North Carolina tag PDV-4382 is asked to call 911 immediately.

CMPD says they have been working closely with Uber to get more information on where Medina-Chevez may be.

CHARLOTTE, NC – A Charlotte family is pleading for answers after an Uber driver disappeared on the job.

44-year-old Marlo Medina-Chevez vanished Saturday night.

“He said that he was going to go do Uber and.. then he never came back home,” explains Medina-Chavez’s daughter Debroa.

Dozens of family members and friends gathered in his Southwest Charlotte home Sunday night to lend support.

“My mom, she’s had and she still is having a lot of anxiety. I mean, she cries all the time, it’s been hard.. I just wanna find my dad,” Debroa Medina says.

Family members filed a police report around 10:00 Sunday morning.

They say Medina-Chevez has been driving for Uber since December and this is very unusual.

“He used to come home with a lot of funny stories and tell us every night about all these random stories and people that he would pick up,” Medina says.

Now the fear is that he came to some kind of harm after picking up a client.

Family members say investigators are trying to get information from Uber about who Medina-Chevez picked up Saturday night, but so far they haven’t had any luck.

Family members are pleading for anyone who knows what happened to step forward.
