Cotswold Elementary Parent Claims Teacher Assaulted Daughter With Mop
“You bullied my daughter after you assaulted her and you called it an accident and it’s unacceptable,” said mother, Tiffany Fields.
Tiffany Fields is demanding CMS fire her 11-year old daughter Cynaii’s Cotswold Elementary teacher. Fields says after the alleged assault in May, CMS didn’t do anything and the teacher remained in the classroom. When new cell phone video. which was shared with her by the student who recorded it came out, she reached out to the group True Healing Under God for support.
“We are not going to sit idle minded and not address this particular issue,” said John Barnett, with THUG.
Cynaii says back in May she was telling another student to stop being disrespectful to the teacher when the boy hit her with the mop, but when Cynaii tried to defend herself she says the teacher lashed out on her.
“I was walking toward the teacher and he poked me with the broom in my stomach,” said 11-year old Cynaii Fields.
That’s when she says the teacher screamed at her and hit her with the broom. CMS tells WCCB Charlotte the school reviewed surveillance video in may and found it did not support assault allegations. Since the new video came out this week, Fields has reached out to CMS police to file a report.
“The principal emailed the video to the teacher who assaulted my child but never once offered for me to view the video,” said Fields.
Cynaii says she wants action taken.
“I don’t want another child to be treated like I was treated,” said Cynaii.
