New bird flu variant adds to concerns for consumers

CHARLOTTE, N.C.– When it comes to Bird Flu, the CDC says the threat to the general public remains low.  However, with an increasing number of cases among commercial and wild flocks of birds nationwide, coupled with concerns over a newer variant that could infect mammals, including humans more easily, some have worried about the safety of the food supply. In today’s health minute, WCCB Charlotte’s Mandy Gaither talks to an infectious diseases specialist about whether eggs and milk are still safe to consume.
