CHARLOTTE, N.C. — It’s back to court for a Baltimore man accused of killing a Monroe teen. Michael Johnson’s retrial in Baltimore starts Monday. Police say Johnson dumped Phylicia Barnes’ body into a Maryland river in 2010.
The prosecution is giving it another go since a judge reversed last year’s verdict. The issue is the credibility of a key witness who testified during last years trial. The defense says prosecutors withheld information about that witness during the first trial.
Monday, Michael Johnson is expected to get a second chance to plead his case. Our legal analyst Mindy Sanchez joins WCCB’s Terrance Bates to explain what the state could do differently for a strong case.
