CMS Superintendent Says He’s Gladly Drink Water From Any School In The District

CHARLOTTE, NC — The superintendent of Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools says he will gladly drink water from any of the schools in the district.

This comes after a voluntary test of the school’s water revealed lead contamination. Of the 55 schools tested so far, more than two dozen had lead in some of the water fixtures.

Dr. Clayton Wilcox says there is nothing to worry about and that the lead levels aren’t dangerous. Wilcox says all the known issues have been corrected.

There are about 30 more elementary schools in need of testing, and middle and high schools will follow.
