BOSTON (AP) β New England Patriots president Jonathan Kraft is expressing support for commissioner Roger Goodell, saying the NFL will go forward with him in charge.
Kraft says Goodell realized before seeing a video showing Baltimore running back Ray Rice striking his then fiance that domestic violence was very serious for society in general. But Kraft says that at that time Goodell didn’t send a message about how unacceptable domestic violence is.
Goodell originally suspended the running back for two games. Then he wrote a letter to owners saying that he “didn’t get it right.” After a second video surfaced showing Rice hitting the woman, Goodell suspended Rice indefinitely and the Ravens released him.
Kraft spoke Thursday at a Bloomberg News luncheon.
