LINCOLNTON, N.C. — Investigators say a 911 hang up call lead deputies to an indoor marijuana grow operation.
Deputies responded to a 911 hang up call at a home on Rustic Trial in Lincolnton. When police were unable to get anyone to answer the door of the home they decided to check around the outside of the house for any signs of an emergency.
During the safety sweep, deputies looked through windows in an attempt to locate anyone who may have been in danger or needed assistance. While looking through a window, one of the deputies discovered a marijuana grow operation inside an open closet.
Detectives got a search warrant for the home and after searching the house they found five marijuana plants growing inside a closet in a bedroom. Deputies say the plants range from 7 inches to 11 inches tall and were growing in flower pots with the aid of lighting to help the plants grow.
Darius Collins III, 26, was charged with possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
