Mecklenburg County Health Leaders Issue Safety Warning Ahead Of Halloween Celebration
CHARLOTTE — North Carolina Coronavirus cases are continuing to rise. And, many are concerned Halloween and other holidays will lead to clusters and another sharp spike in cases.
This Halloween will be unlike any other. Thousands of children across our area are preparing for trick or treat during this pandemic.
But, health leaders are sending a strong warning before you pick up that candy, or gather with others.
“I want to reiterate, Halloween is also a time when people like to come together in gatherings, and have parties. This is not a good time to do that. That is where we’re going to see more exposure,” says Mecklenburg County Health Director, Gibbie Harris.
The county also issued a list of do’s and don’ts for people celebrating Halloween. Among them – do host a virtual Halloween costume party, and make individually wrapped candy for trick or treaters.
Don’t host or attend large neighborhood block parties or haunted houses.
