Increased Fire Danger + Freeze Watch for some this week

A strong and dry cold front will swing across the area Wednesday

Tuesday pollen update:
Tree pollen is very high. Moderate levels for grass, mold, and weed pollen.

Expect overnight lows to bottom out in the 50s across the Piedmont under partly cloudy skies. A midweek, strong, and dry cold front will swing across the Carolinas Wednesday which will bring strong winds and low relative humidity in wake of the front. These conditions + not much rain this month will lead to increased fire danger.Β

Wednesday will be mostly sunny and windy. Temperatures drop quickly Wednesday night into Thursday morning with overnight lows bottoming out in the mid 30s across the Piedmont and upper 20s to low 30s across the Mountains and portions of the Foothills. With sub-freezing temperatures in the forecast, there is a Freeze Watch in effect late Wednesday through Thursday morning for the Mountains and portions of the Foothills. The winds may help prevent widespread frost Thursday morning, but a freeze and some frost is still likely. With calmer winds on Friday morning, more frost is likely. Be sure to bring your plants and pets inside. If you cannot bring the plants in, cover them with a sheet.

Tonight: Partly cloudy. Low: 54. Wind: S 5-15.

Wednesday: Mostly sunny. High: 70. Wind: SW/NW 10-20. G: 30-40. *Fire Danger

Wednesday PM – Thursday AM: Clear skies. Mountain & western Foothills under a Freeze Watch. Lows: Upper 20s – low 30s. Piedmont lows: Mid 30s.

Thursday: Sunny skies and well below average. Highs: Low to mid 60s. Wind: W 10-20.

Have a wonderful week!
