BOONE, N.C. — Police say a 44-year-old man is under arrest for robbing and assaulting a sleeping man in Boone, N.C. on June 9th.
Detectives say Gary Abernathy, 44, of Robin Lane is charged with Burglary, Assault with a Deadly Weapon Inflicting Serious Injury, and Assault By Strangulation for his involvement.

Police say Abernathy assaulted a sleeping man at a home in Boone, N.C. around 3 a.m. on Wednesday, June 9th.
Detectives say Abernathy was arrested in Gaston County on June 14th and placed under a 100,000 secure bond, with an expected court date on August 13th.
