GASTON COUNTY, N.C. — The Gaston County Police Animal Shelter will have a partial shutdown due to a ringworm virus outbreak among their cat population.
Through discussions with North Carolinaβs Department of Agriculture: Veterinarian Services the suggested protocol for Gaston County Police Animal Care and Enforcement to follow is to partially shut down the shelter.
“For a twenty-one-day period, 21 days, we will not adopt or intake any cats,” the animal shelter said.
During the twenty-one-day period of partial shutdown the cat population will be isolated and medically treated for the virus.
