MLB-SCHEDULE

Busy day of play

UNDATED (AP) — Just about half of the schedule in baseball today is taking place this afternoon. In Toronto, the Blue Jays and Brewers are putting the finishing touches on their two-game set. The Jays won the opener last night 4-1. In the American League East, the Jays lead the Orioles by a game while the Brewers top the Cardinals by 6 ½ in the National League Central.

Also this afternoon it’s the third and final game of a series between division leaders Detroit and Oakland. The Tigers, who lead the American League Central by 4 ½ games over Kansas City, have won the first two games of the series. With the losses the Athletics lead over the Angels in the AL West is 3 ½.

The other day games feature the Rays in New York against the Yankees, the Twins at home to the Royals, Seattle at Houston, the Indians in L.A. against the Dodgers and the Padres at home to the Reds.

In San Francisco this evening, Adam Wainwright of the Cardinals is going for his 11th win of the season. If he gets it, he would join Rick Porcello of the Tigers and Masahiro Tanaka (mah-sah-HEE’-roh tah-NAH’-kah) as baseball’s only 11-game winners.
