Continued sunshine before rain moves into the mountains later tonight

Wednesday is shaping up to be another hot summer preview across the Carolinas. Afternoon temperatures will climb back into the lower 90s, running several degrees above what we typically see this time of year. Sunshine will dominate for most of the day, so it will feel very warm by the afternoon. As we head into Wednesday night, changes begin to develop off to our west. A few showers and maybe even an isolated thunderstorm could start popping up across the mountains late in the evening as the next system gets closer. For areas east of the mountains, the weather should stay mainly quiet and dry through the evening hours.
