5 arrested after months-long drug trafficking investigation

Five people have been arrested in connection to an investigation into drug trafficking in Cleveland County, the sheriff’s office said.

The sheriff’s office had been investigating the distribution of methamphetamine, fentanyl, and cocaine throughout the county for months.

On June 16, investigators arrested the alleged leader, Santana Elliott, in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. He has been charged with conspiracy to traffick methamphetamine, conspiracy to traffick fentanyl, trafficking in methamphetamine, and continuing a criminal enterprise.

Investigators said they seized 742.2 grams of methamphetamine, 35.3 grams of fentanyl, 22.8 grams of cocaine, 22 dosage units of Xanax, $6,270.71 in U.S. Currency, and one vehicle from the operation.

“This investigation represents months of dedicated work by our Narcotics Division and our law enforcement partners,” Sheriff Alan Norman said. “The arrest of individuals responsible for distributing large quantities of methamphetamine and fentanyl demonstrates our commitment to protecting the citizens of Cleveland County. Fentanyl continues to be one of the greatest threats facing our communities, and we will continue to aggressively target those who profit from the sale of dangerous narcotics.”

Four co-conspirators, Amber Parson, Kalana Maple, Geoffrey Nance, and Margaret Greene, were also arrested. They all face drug trafficking-related charges.
