Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw had his scoreless inning streak end at 41 innings when San Diego’s Chase Headley homered in the sixth inning of the Dodgers’ 2-1 win over the Padres. That’s the third-longest scoreless streak in Dodger history after Orel Hersheiser and Don Drysdale. Kershaw won his eighth straight decision to improve to 11-2, going the distance with a three-hitter and striking out 11.
CLEVELAND (AP) β Masahiro Tanaka has a partially torn ligament in his right elbow, and the New York Yankees are hoping their rookie sensation will be able to pitch again this season. Yanks GM Brian Cashman says Tanaka could return in six weeks, but didn’t rule out the possibility of Tommy John surgery if the right-hander doesn’t respond to a rehab program.
