MINNESOTA (AP ) β For the second straight year the winner of the Home Run Derby contest is Oakland’s Yeonis Cespedes (yoh-EHN’-ehs SEHS’-peh’-dehs). In last night’s competition in Minneapolis, Cespedes defeated Todd Frazier of the Reds 9-1 in the final round of the exhibition.
NEW YORK (AP) β There’s more trouble for Alex Rodriguez. Along with being suspended from baseball he is now being sued by his lawyers. The law firm that represented him in his battle against baseball says it is owed more than $380,000.
SAO PAULO (AP) β Here’s a big surprise. Brazil’s football confederation has announced that the coach of its World Cup team is being let go. Luiz Felipe Scolari has been dismissed after his team’s dismal showing in the World Cup, finishing fourth.
