UNDATED (AP) β€” The New York Yankees and San Francisco Giants both won 14-inning marathon games last night. Newly acquired Chase Headley came through in his Yankees debut, hitting a game-winning single in the 14th inning in a 2-1 victory over the Texas Rangers. In Philadelphia, Brandon Crawford delivered a bases-clearing double in the Giants’ 9-6 triumph.

ST. LOUIS (AP) β€” The surging Tampa Bay Rays won their sixth in a row, and beat one of baseball’s best pitchers in the process. The Rays beat Adam Wainwright and the St. Louis Cardinals 7-2.

CHICAGO (AP) β€” β€” The Chicago Cubs took another step toward the future by designating second baseman Darwin Barney for assignment, and activating Emilio Bonifacio (boh-nih-FAH’-see-oh) off the disabled list to take Barney’s place on the roster. The 28-year-old Barney won a Gold Glove in 2012, when he went 141 consecutive games without an error.

NEW YORK (AP) β€” The New York Rangers are avoiding salary arbitration with forward Mats Zuccarello, agreeing to terms with the restricted free agent on a one-year, $3.5 million contract. The 26-year-old Zuccarello had career highs of 19 goals and 40 assists in 77 games last season to lead the NHL Eastern Conference champions in points.

LOS ANGELES (AP) β€” Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling is not giving up his fight to keep the team, and has filed a new lawsuit in his attempt to derail a potential $2 billion sale to former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer. The lawsuit names estranged wife Shelly Sterling, the NBA and Commissioner Adam Silver, saying they committed fraud and violated corporate law in their attempt to sell the team without his permission.
