SAN FRANCISCO (AP) β€” The L.A. Dodgers roughed up Jake Peavy (PEE’-vee) for four runs in six innings as they finished a three-game sweep with a 4-3 victory at AT&T Park. Carl Crawford’s RBI triple highlighted a three-run fifth inning against Peavy, who was making his Giants debut a day after being acquired from Boston. The victory gives the Dodgers a game and a-half lead over the Giants in the NL West.

SEATTLE (AP) β€” The Baltimore Orioles are working extra-long hours for their victories, but they’ll take them. The AL East-leading Orioles improved to 11-3 in extra-inning games by edging Seattle 3-2 on Manny Machado’s tiebreaking sacrifice fly in the 10 inning yesterday.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) β€” David Ortiz hit a three-run homer, and the Boston Red Sox beat Tampa Bay 3-2 to end a five-game losing streak and stop the Rays’ longest winning streak in 10 years at nine games. Ortiz’s homer was his fifth in seven games and his 29th at Tropicana Field, most among visiting players.

NEW YORK (AP)β€” β€” The Toronto Blue Jays are celebrating their first series win at Yankee Stadium in nearly two years by edging the Yankees 5-4. Dioner (dee-AH’-nur) Navarro hit a go-ahead single with two outs in the ninth for the Jays, who own a one-game lead of the Yanks for the second wild card in the AL.

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) β€” Capturing his fifth Brickyard 400 victory title yesterday, Jeff Gordon looked like the driver he was 20 years ago when he captured his first. The win moved Gordon into a tie with Michael Schumacher (SHOO’-mah-kur), who has five Formula One victories over the famed Indianapolis oval.
