Wilson’s World: Previewing This Week’s UCI BMX Supercross Championships

The 2017 UCI BMX World Championships begins Tuesday, July 25th and runs through Sunday, July 29th.

ROCK HILL, S.C. – Wilson was at the Novant Health BMX Supercross Track in Rock Hill today where world champion BMX riders are converging on Rock Hill to compete in the UCI BMX World Championships which begins on Tuesday.  Rock Hill Mayor, Dan Echols, stopped by to talk with Wilson about the event.

The track in Rock Hill is one of the best in the United States with some of the kids even moving to the area to be able to train on the track.

The UCI BMX World Championship is projected to be the largest international sporting event in South Carolina history.  This is the first time in 16 years that the event has been held in the United States.  The participants are very excited to be able to participate in the championship on their home turf.  Almost 3,500 athletes are expected to attend.  Olympic BMX riders will also be participating in the event as well.
