2 local teen girls help save woman after seeing her car smoking and catch fire
UNION COUNTY, N.C. – Two high school students in Union County are being recognized for helping to save a driver from a burning car.
Mandi Tarr and Joella Meadows were driving on Unionville-Indian Trail Road on April 30th when they noticed smoke coming from the car in front of them. The girls pulled up next to the driver, told her that her car was on fire and that she needed to pull over. She got out right before the entire car went up in flames.
Tarr says, “I didn’t know who was in the car, but I was just like, I know they need help. And I knew that I wouldn’t have let Joella drive away or me leave without knowing I could have done something in that moment to help.”
Meadows says, “It was definitely shocking to see that and know that she could have been in that car and trapped in that car and that us pulling over and being there got her out at the right time.”
The girls attend Porter Ridge High School. The Union County Sheriff’s Office plans to give the girls a Good Samaritan Award in the future.
